On a whirlwind trip to the Berta NYC flagship store I purchased 7x gowns. The Berta showroom offers off the rack and one of a kind dresses that were made by the designer, but never went into full production - all size 38/approximately street size 2. These dresses are offered at a discounted price - and the price listed reflects this. I made the mistake of going alone and ended up buying every dress that I really liked knowing I could probably sell the dresses I didn't end up wearing...thus, it brings me to this site. This dress has never been worn by a bride or for a wedding. It is unique/one of a kind, never went into production and became an off the rack dress available for purchase. It is in sample dress condition. A few imperfections, but nothing that couldn't be addressed by a tailor. I am 5'5 and this could easily be worn by someone who is 6'0 or shorter. There is a lot of length to work with. My measurements are 32 in bust, 25 in waist, 36 in hips. My cup size is a 32D. I would recommend this for D or smaller cup sizes.
It is most like Berta's Brooklyn line dresses 18-16 and 18-21. The dress is a perfect melding of the traditional corset strapless sweetheart gown with a modern avant-garde feel. The lacework on this gown is beautiful. Just the right amount of sparkle and a substantial train. It has a beautiful water-like modern abstract design. The bodice features delicate sheer re-emboirdered lace detail scalloping with beaded detail at high waist. Back features a sheer dotted corset with low back.
